ANTI-BULLYING WEEK 2009
SCHOOL COMPETITIONS WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) is delighted to announce the
winners of the Anti-Bullying Week 2009 school competitions. Chloe
Gomm from Westcliffe Primary School, Scunthorpe, won the primary
school competition to design a logobug, and Jenny Smith from St
Joseph’s Catholic College, Swindon, won the secondary school
competition to design an anti-cyberbullying
slogan.
Both competitions were based on cyberbullying, the theme for
this year’s awareness raising campaign run by ABA. They were
designed to get pupils thinking about the issues ahead of the week,
which takes place 16-20 November.
Chloe’s winning design – a multi coloured logobug with red feet
holding a mobile phone, has been teamed with Jenny’s winning slogan
‘Don’t be mean on the screen’ to create a
colourful logobug that will send out an important cyberbullying
message across England.

Sue Steel, National Manager of ABA, said:
‘We’re delighted to have received more than 4000 entries for the
competitions, which have displayed huge creativity and originality.
Anti-Bullying Week 2009 offers a great opportunity to inform
children and young people, teachers and parents about
cyberbullying, and how to stop it.’
Chloe Gomm, aged 12, said: ‘When Mrs. Donnelly
came up and told me I had won I was excited and shocked. I am
really proud of myself and I’m pleased with how my design looks in
real life.’
Jenny Smith, aged 15, said: ‘I think
cyberbullying is a big problem for young people today and it is
important to know what to do about it’
Chloe and Jenny will both receive 500 free logo bugs for their
school as part of their prize, and will see their designs come to
life in schools and communities across England. The proceeds from
the 200,000 logobugs, will go towards ABA’s work to stop bullying,
and to create safer environments in which children and young people
can live, grow, play and learn.
To order your Anti-Bullying Week logo bugs to be used as gifts
or prizes to spread the ‘Stay safe in
cyberspace’ message simply fill in the order form at
